ARUN SRIVASTAVA

 

CHIEF MENTOR

Arun Srivastava is an academician and social activist. He has more than 20 years of experience of urban development and city management in India. As Assistant Director for State Development Agency State, Uttar Pradesh, he coordinated efforts of district administrations, city governments and local bodies to implement various World Bank and State Government projects and schemes of urban development, employment generations and poverty alleviation programme.

 

He was co-chair of the Select Committee on proposed constitution amendment in the National Seminar of City Administrators and Mayors of Urban Local Bodies of India, organized by Union Ministry of Urban Development.

 

In addition, he has extensive entrepreneurial experience of owning, operating and managing import based wholesale company in United States. He regularly participates in various conferences, seminars and workshops and study tours in different cities, including Birmingham, London and Glasgow.

Amit Srivastava is a seasoned entrepreneur, technology visionary, and a business graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He started his first IT Company, Foundational Net, Inc., during his college days which dealt with emerging Next Generation Internet Technologies. The Company was hand-picked for investment & subsequent take-over by the founder of PC, PC World, Mac World magazines.

 

In other entrepreneurial ventures, Amit set up a base in Holland and Guangzhou, China, and created a company in Hong Kong that became the primary supplier of building materials from China to Northern Europe. Amit took up his first assignment in India in 2004, where he consulted with Industrial Clusters to create common facilities and industrial benchmarking mechanisms in conjunction with the Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme (IIUS), of the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, and funded by the World Bank. Later in 2005, Amit is credited with bringing the low-cost fully functional Personal Computer to India, called Intel's Dot Station. During this time, Amit was also appointed to the committee on National e-Governance Gateway under the NeGP plan of the Government of India, under NISG Hyderabad, by the National Informatics Center.

 

In 2007, Amit set up India's first remote High-Performance Computing cluster, under a company he had set up in Delhi and Mumbai called Dux Soft. The company later became the premier IT solution provider to Animation, Visual Effects, and Gaming studios in India with clients like Sony Pictures Imageworks, Red Chillies, Tata Elxsi VCL, etc. Since 2011, Amit also serves on the Advisory Board of Sahara Next, a part of the ground-breaking Sahara India Pariwar, as Senior Advisor, Corporate Strategy and Business Development, and is implementing the company's expansion plans along with overseeing their e-Governance projects. Amit is Country Coordinator India for US Asia Business Forum and is an active member of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Northern Region Skill Development Task Force advising the Government of India on Skill Development policies and is President of Youth Red Cross Society where he volunteers time for community service.
